We Install AI partnered with Cato Digital, a California-based enterprise, to establish a dedicated Smart Hands support program for their mission-critical data center in Texas. The challenge: find and develop a geographically distributed technical team capable of delivering hands-on infrastructure support while meeting strict SLAs and execution timelines. The result: technicians have transitioned from supervised junior resources to increasingly autonomous technical contributors who execute against SLAs with minimal escalation.


Finding the right talent was the core challenge. Smart Hands roles require technical competency in server architecture and hands-on troubleshooting, combined with reliability and discipline for live production environments. Beyond credentials, we needed committed individuals capable of working independently while following strict operational protocols.

Hot swaps, server troubleshooting, and cable management happen against the clock in a live environment where every minute of delay affects operations. Technicians needed to understand both the technical work and the criticality of execution timing.

Training for specificity was the third layer. Off-the-shelf qualifications don’t prepare technicians for Cato Digital’s unique environment. They needed hands-on mastery of procedures tailored to this specific infrastructure and the ability to execute efficiently within agreed-upon timelines.
